Antibodies Extraction III

Wellington 2012

Lucia Lie

In a 'ready-remedy' culture we continually submit ourselves to an unknown. We feast on the pleasure of relief and forcefully displace intuition that should perhaps warn us otherwise. As we sail away from instinct – the last (and once first) barricade of self-preservation – we find that we become lost inside ourselves... a sea of sealed containers afloat and directionless. Extraction III aims to further a commentary on a diagnosis culture that removes the subject and subjectivity from science and clinical science in this latest development in Lucia Lie’s Extraction series.

ANTIBODIES (Performance art collaboration between Ana McGowan and Lucia Lie) return to The Performance Arcade this year following their debut in the Arcade in 2011. These endurance works act as intersections between two artists negotiating notions of physical, psychological, and existential anguish, and alternative methods of release.
