ACTING UP

WELLINGTON 2016

To make art in public is a political act. To bring expression out from spaces of control like the gallery or theatre into public space provokes new possibilities and new perspectives on what our shared culture is or could be. The 2016 programme looked at this notion of politics in many ways, sometimes just through the gentle act of placing art, with all its beauty, revulsion, wonder, and uncertainty into these live spaces. Other works looked at burning questions in our collective psyche, and came from artists’ own experiences of our political, cultural landscapes.
