LudiCity

This interactive performance installation explores the notion of journey and dislocation within the finite space of a shipping container. The installation uses a combination of pre-recorded sound, motion- activated technology, and specially constructed interior architecture to lead participants through a narrative experienced solely through sound. As participants move amongst a minimalist interior a pair of wireless headphones become an encompassing and ghostly theatre of unseen scenography. As participants move within the container, triggering sound cues, they become unwitting performers for the passing public who look on through peepholes.

LudiCity was formed in 2010 with the aim to create participatory and pervasive performance works in the city space. The name LudiCity derives from the word Ludic, meaning playful. and City, the playground that acts as the context for their work. Their previous work Hidden City Maps was presented in The Performance Arcade 2011 (Wellington and Auckland) and was representd in the 2011 Prague Quadrennial.
