Wandering Objects
Wellington 2015
Lucy Wardle
‘Organisms’ that are both familiar and sinister in their construction, these objects become pets and playthings for passers-by. The Wandering Objects twist and turn, dangle and drape, flop and fall off bodies. They will dance uncontrollably around limbs, but only with the permission of the one who activates it. They ache to be touched, worn, and played with. Through the investigation of participatory sculpture, a relationship is formed between the mediating object, the artist, and the viewer.
