The Endless Line
Wellington 2016
Rachel Kendrigan
The Endless Line aims to create a dialogue around the accelerated, technological, and excessive world we live in, and how we can counteract the effect of this by engaging in rhythmic and repetitious rituals.
The project questions our everyday experience of time. Are we living a unified experience or separate timelines? Is time passing or are we passing? Living in this present moment, do the past and future exist?
The act of repetition, concentration and mindful action has the potential to bring us into a meditative state, allowing for reflection, a shift in consciousness, and a new way of experiencing and understanding time and space.
Entering the container invites you not just to observe, but to inspire you to participate in creating a unified experience and generate a collective energy. There is no definition between artist and audience, in this space we are reminded that by stepping away from our own busy worlds, and actively creating a transformative space, we can attune ourselves to our concurrent existence.
