Krotos is an installation combining acoustic sounds and digital projections controlled by social media interactions. The surfaces of the shipping container housing the audiovisual installation are adorned with several percussive devices forcing the metallic frame in producing a range of resonances and vibrations. In turn, the stimulated surfaces are fed into an array of microphones, with the collection of sounds being amplified and broadcasted through a set of speakers. The patterns of the vibrations are determined according to specific twitter channels monitored by the installation’s system – single tweets can trigger a device in performing an actions, or a combination of streams may initiate a longer motive throughout the whole structure. Along with the sonic elements, the social media interactions also determine the visual material projected within the container. As with the sounds, actions on twitter launch visualisations made up from a mixture of pre-rendered dance videos and live images retrieved from twitter.
