With direct reference to Chris Burden’s 1974 performance piece TransFixed, from 1-4 March (10am-11pm) the durational performance piece Forecasting (2018) sees Bragg tied to the chassis of a car on top of a shipping container. Inside the container below, the performance based video And Again addresses the audience on love, loss and longing, as the artist endures the elements above. With an ex-lover behind the wheel And Again sees Bragg tied to the hood of a car driving endlessly in circles, audibly repeating the phrase –
"And again, the sun rose on the next day. When your back is turned, the day does not turn away,
Always the same. Love is absolution, ‘persecution’, ejaculation, always the same".
Jordana Bragg is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist currently based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. Co-founder of two artist run initiatives Meanwhile (NZ) and Friends are Artists/Freunde sind Künstler (DE), Bragg's independent practice spans curation, written form, live performance, still and moving image. Each work documenting contemporary shifts in fluidity - gender and identity politics.
