Go Home Curry Muncha
Wellington 2019
Gemishka Chetty, Aiwa Pooamorn
An intersectional feminist investigation into the politics of Masterchef. All the judges are white males. Asian contestants are told to stick to what they know best- their own ethnic food. And they tell us how to cook our own food. When white contestants do Asian cuisine, they get awarded the best dish. Fusion cuisine, in particular the europeanization of Asian food, is considered fine dining. The irony of our food being embraced, but not our people.
