Ida Lune

5:45PM Sun 26 Feb, Whairepo Lagoon
Indie Folk

(Pōneke / Wellington)

Ida Lune have been captivating audiences with their luscious harmonies and kindred vocal blend since forming in Te Whanganui a Tara, 2013. Deanne Krieg (Congress of Animals, Dawn Diver), Rose Blake (Dawn Diver, Blaek), and Anna Wooles formed an instant musical bond meeting at the New Zealand School of Music. They belong to the Home Alone Records whānau - including artists French for Rabbits. Described by Atwood Magazine as a ‘warm familiar hug’ Ida Lune’s sound is unique, encapsulating each of their distinctive voices, and in turn, showcasing their almost telepathic, sisterlike harmonies. It is in a live performance setting where audiences experience something special, with stories of connection, isolation, and humour, all explored through soaring harmonies. Ida Lune released their debut album in 2020 to glowing reviews, Anabel Keen, from Under the Radar states, ‘The vocal talent in Ida Lune is almost greedy...I don't want to reduce Ida Lune to a Fleet Foxes comparison, because there's something so much more personal to the songs these women write.’ Ida Lune is at home on any stage, performing at festivals, art galleries, parliament events, and clubs right through to intimate house gigs. Highlights include Wellington's Gardens Magic, the opening of Featherston’s Booktown, Cupa Dupa, and Newtown Festival.
